Ultrasound Program Overview

Overview

This program combines knowledge and advanced technological equipment to produce images of the body. The diagnostic medical ultrasonographer works with medical practitioners in the management, control and care of patients referred for ultrasound studies,providing extended information.

Employment Opportunities

Upon completion of the Ultrasound Program,our graduates may find employment in areas such as hospitals, physicians’ offices, Imaging laboratories and commercial companies.

Program Description

Medical Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to demonstrate body parts and assist physicians in the diagnosis of medical abnormalities. The sonographer must have a complete understanding of human anatomy and a skilled, creative, self-directed approach for locating and demonstrating anatomy and pathology.

Career Paths

Students earn a Diploma once they complete the PBIT –Ultrasound curriculum.

Graduation Requirements

Successful completion of all program required courses.

Program Length

Total program credits: 66. Didactic Hours are 1000 and the Clinical Internship Hours are 1002. The courses are sequential and involve practical experience in local hospitals,offices and clinics.
Classes are offered in blocks of four months and one week vacation in between every block.
Total Program length: 2002 hours (16 months)
